How to install Softener in Photoshop 7

The Softener Photoshop plugin does work with Photoshop 7. The Softener installer should automatically install into the correct folder. When asked during the install procedure if you want to "Search for Plug-in Folder?", click "Yes".

Once you're running Photoshop 7, load an image (something like a JPEG or a BMP file). You can then use Softener by clicking on the following menu option: menu option.

Filter -> namesuppressed -> Softener

If Softener is not showing in your Filter menu, you will need to re-install it into the correct plug-in folder. Uninstall Softener, then re-run the installer program. If you don't have the installer anymore, you can download it here:

http://www.namesuppressed.com/software/nssoftener.exe

On the installer screen that says "Choose Install Location", make sure the Destination Folder is the location of your Photoshop Plug-in folder. It should be something like:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 7.0\Plug-Ins\Softener

If not, click the Browse button and change it to the correct folder. Then complete the installer, and Softener should be ready to use from Photoshop!
